The Buffalo Bills will not be adding Antonio Brown to their roster after all.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane released a statement Friday morning confirming that the team was engaged in trade talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but have now moved on.

“We inquired about Antonio Brown on Tuesday, and kept talks open with the Steelers,” Beane said. “We had positive discussions, but ultimately it didn’t make sense for either side. As great a player as Antonio Brown is, we have moved on and our focus is on free agency.”

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Thursday night the two sides were closing a deal, but said Friday it collapsed because Brown would not commit to showing up in Buffalo.

Tom Pelissero, also of NFL Network, added Thursday night that if Brown wanted to blow up the trade to Buffalo, he could say he'll retire rather than play for the Bills.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers were telling teams they wanted to have a resolution to the Brown situation by Friday, but now that looks "challenging."

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reports there are "very few options left" for Brown and the Steelers.

Brown, 30, has three years and $38.925 million remaining on his current deal with none of that money guaranteed. He is owed a $2.5 million bonus on March 17, the fifth day of the new NFL year. Brown’s $22.165 million cap hit is currently the largest for any wide receiver in the NFL.

A native of Miami, Brown is the first receiver in NFL history to post six-straight seasons with 100 or more receptions.

Since 2013, Brown leads the NFL in receptions with 686, receiving yards (9,145) and touchdowns (67).

In 15 games last season, Brown had 1,297 yards receiving on 104 catches with a league-leading 15 touchdowns.

Heading into a Week 17 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, Brown allegedly skipped practice after a heated argument with Ben Roethlisberger and was benched for the game. The Steelers won the game, but still missed the playoffs for the first time in five seasons.

After the season concluded, Brown asked for a trade and his wish was facilitated after a meeting with owner Art Rooney II last month.
