Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive backs coach Greg Knox is leaving the team to become the new interim head coach at McMaster University.

Knox had just been hired as defensive backs coach in Winnipeg earlier this off-season, taking over for Barron Miles. He had previously been the Blue Bombers' linebackers coach in 2015.

Prior to that Knox had been defensive coordinator at McMaster, helping the Marauders win the Vanier Cup in 2011.

The head coaching position at McMaster was open after Stefan Ptaszek left to become offensive coordinator with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
