One of two Canadian world junior prospects currently playing outside of the CHL will not be represent his country at this year’s tournament.

According to TSN’s Mark Masters, Providence’s Jake Walman, the leading scorer among NCAA defencemen this season, has been ruled out of consideration for Canada’s squad after suffering a shoulder injury in a game over the weekend.

He will not be attending Canada’s selection camp, which opens on Thursday, and Hockey Canada has yet to decide if the open camp spot will be filled by another defenceman.

The 19-year-old, 2014 third-round pick of the St. Louis Blues leads NCAA defencemen with 19 points (11 goals, eight assists) in 14 games.
