CLEVELAND — Zac Dalpe had a hat trick in regulation before Nathan Gerbe scored the shootout winner to lift the Cleveland Monsters over the Toronto Marlies 7-6 on Friday in American Hockey League action.

Eric Robinson scored once and set up two more for the Monsters (7-3-1) while Brett Gallant and Kevin Stenlund also found the back of the net.

Dmytro Timashov, Trevor Moore, Sam Gagner, Josh Jooris, Adam Brooks and Rasmus Sandin scored for the Marlies (4-4-2), who are 3-0-2 in their past five.

Brad Thiessen earned the win in a game featuring both backup goalies coming in for relief. He stopped 14-of-15 shots after taking over for Matiss Kivlenieks, who allowed five goals on 17 shots in 34:29.

Eamon McAdam kicked out 22-of-23 shots in 43:41 of relief for Jeff Glass, but got pegged with the loss. Glass gave up five goals on 14 shots.

Both teams went 1 for 3 on the power play.
