TORONTO - Scott Harrington's goal 8:34 into the third period stood as the winner as the Toronto Marlies downed the St. John's IceCaps 5-2 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.

Harrington's goal was the defenceman's first of the season for the Marlies (24-5-2).

Sam Carrick, Richard Panik, Brendan Leipsic and Nikita Soshnikov, into an empty net, also scored for Toronto while Richard Clune and Rinat Valiev chipped in with two assists apiece.

Darren Dietz and Lucas Lessio had goals for the IceCaps (14-8-7).

Antoine Bibeau stopped 24 shots in the victory at Air Canada Centre. Zachary Fucale made 32 saves in the losing effort.

Neither team scored on three power-play chances.
