Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee Tuesday, according to a report from ESPN.

According to the report Kerrigan said the procedure was cautionary and that he would be re-evaluated next week to determine a time frame to resume offseason activities.

Kerrigan is entering the last year of his contract. The former first rounder has been talking with the team about a contract extension and new Redskins’ GM Scot McCloughan has said he wants to keep Kerrigan around.
