The Calgary Stampeders locked up one of their top pending free agents ahead of the market opening in running back and kick returner Roy Finch.

Finch was named the league's Most Outstanding Special Teams Player last season after returning 26 kickoffs for 696 yards and 73 punt returns for 1,200 yards, a team record, and three touchdowns in just 13 games.

"Roy has established himself as an elite returner in this league and I'm very pleased that he is remaining with the Red and White," Stampeders GM John Hufnagel said in a team statement. "I look forward to another great season from Roy on special teams in addition to his contributions on offence as a runner and a receiver out of the backfield."

Finch, also named a league All-Star last season, also contributed on offence, rushing for 114 yards on 21 carries and adding 18 receptions for 133 yards.

"To everyone in the Stamps family, I'm so excited to be coming back for another two years and to get back to chasing that Grey Cup," Finch said in the team statement. "I love Stampeders pride and everything this organization stands for. These last two years with the Stamps have been a crazy, amazing ride and I'm looking forward to even more amazing things in the next two years."
