The National Hockey League and NHLPA will meet again next week as the fate of the 2020 World Cup of Hockey remains in the balance, according to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie.

The two sides met Thursday in Las Vegas aiming to obtain labour certainty in 2020 in order to schedule the tournament.

A source told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun that it's hard to say if there’s a good chance the tournament can get pulled off. Next week's meeting should bring more clarity.

"When these two sides meet, and they’ve already met a number of times since the start of the season, the World Cup discussion tends to expand into Collective Bargaining Agreement discussions," LeBrun said on Tuesday's edition of Insider Trading.

Canada won the most recent World Cup of Hockey in 2016.
