Italian keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been named the player of the tournament at EURO 2020 after helping lead his team to a penalty shootout victory in the final over England.

Donnarumma made the final save of the shootout against Bukayo Saka after also turning away Jadon Sancho.  England was only able to beat the keeper twice on penalties as Marcus Rashford hit the post.

"We were amazing, we didn't give up an inch," said Donnarumma after the win.  "We did it from scratch, we are a fantastic team and we deserve this success."

The 22-year-old also helped Italy win a shootout over Spain to advance to final stopping Álvaro Morata and setting the stage for Jorginho to send them through to the championship game.

He also earned clean sheets against Turkey Switzerland and Wales as Italy posted a 3-0 record in the group stage of the tournament.

Donnarumma is currently a free agent after his contract expired at AC Milan, he is expected to join PSG on a free transfer.
