NEW YORK — The Oakland Athletics have put outfielder Stephen Piscotty on the bereavement list and recalled right-hander Kendall Graveman from Triple-A Nashville.

Graveman was set to start Friday night against New York at Yankee Stadium. He was 0-5 with an 8.89 ERA in six starts for the A's when he was sent down April 26.

Piscotty's mother, Gretchen, died Sunday from Lou Gehrig's disease. The 27-year-old played twice in Oakland this week, going 1 for 3 in each game. He stayed with his family in the Oakland area when the Athletics headed to New York.

Piscotty is hitting .248 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 34 games. He was traded from St. Louis to the Athletics during the winter.
