The Toronto Argonauts have signed two-time All-Star defensive back T.J. Heath to a one-year deal, the team announced Wednesday.

Last season, Heath had 64 tackles and five interceptions to go along in 18 regular season games. Heath played 10 games with the Argonauts in 2016, recording 37 tackles. He was traded to Winnipeg in exchange for quarterback Drew Willy.

β€œT.J. is a proven playmaker who has played at a very high level since arriving in the CFL,” said Argos general manager Jim Popp in a press release. β€œWe’re excited to add another talented defensive back and ball-hawk like T.J. to the secondary.”

Heath is a product of Jacksonville State and has spent time with the New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL.
