Houston, TX - The Houston Astros activated pitcher Anthony Bass from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.

Bass has been on the DL since May 11 because of a right intercostal strain.

Bass has a record of 1-0 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA in 15 games for the Astros this season. The 26-year-old right-hander, in his first season with Houston after an offseason trade from San Diego, has allowed just a .239 opponents' batting average in 2014.

To make room for Bass, the Astros optioned pitcher Kevin Chapman to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
