TORONTO — Logan Shaw scored two goals as the Belleville Senators edged the Toronto Marlies 4-3 Sunday to clinch their first Calder Cup playoff berth.

Senators (39-28-4) goalie Filip Gustavsson made 32 saves to help preserve Belleville's victory and Egor Sokolov picked up two assists in the win.

Bobby McMann put the Marlies (36-29-4) ahead 3-2 with 28 seconds remaining in the second period, but a couple of quick Belleville goals early in the third, including Shaw's game winner at the 2:50 mark put the Senators back ahead for good.

Toronto netminder Michael Hutchinson stopped 31 shots in the loss.

Formerly playing out of Binghamton, N.Y., this is the first time the Senators have qualified for the playoffs since they relocated to Belleville, Ont., in 2017.

Belleville was the North Division champion in the 2019-20 season and would have qualified for the playoffs that year, but the AHL season was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
