(SportsNetwork.com) - The perfect antidote for an Atlanta Braves home slump might just be the New York Mets.

The Braves recently returned to first place in the National League East after a four-game sweep in Philadelphia, and they'll try to maintain the momentum on Monday night when they begin a three-game set with the visiting Mets at Turner Field.

Atlanta is a game away from equaling its season-best five-game win streak, but the Braves are just 2-8 in their last 10 games in Georgia.

Meanwhile, the Mets are just 1-4 in their last five games, including three of their last four games in which they've scored only two runs.

New York has struggled without third baseman David Wright, who's missed three consecutive games with a bruised rotator cuff in his left shoulder. He will be re-evaluated on Monday and should be able to avoid a trip to the disabled list, according to manager Terry Collins.

Wright is 11-for-22 in his last five games against the Braves.

Atlanta will start lefty Alex Wood for the second time since he returned from a trip to the minor leagues. Wood hadn't started since June 4 and hadn't pitched in a big-league game since June 8 before Wednesday, when he allowed three hits in seven scoreless innings of a 4-0 defeat of Houston.

He's back in the rotation after an injury to starter Gavin Floyd.

"It was good for me to go down there and stretch out and get a feel for everything again," Wood said. "At the same time, I think no matter what the situation is when you go down for however long it is, it's one of those things when you come back you have to prove yourself all over again."

He was 0-1 in three 2013 meetings with the Mets.

New York replies with righty Zack Wheeler, who followed his first career shutout with a two-inning stint against Oakland on Wednesday in which he was bludgeoned for six runs and six hits.

The stellar performance had come six days earlier when he allowed three hits in a 1-0 defeat of the Miami Marlins.

"I'm already over this, to be honest with you. It's time to get ready for my next start," Wheeler said.

Wheeler has lost a decision in two starts against the Braves in 2014, a year after he'd gone 3-0 against them with a 2.89 earned run average.

On Sunday in Pittsburgh, Pedro Alvarez belted a two-run homer and Edinson Volquez struck out seven, leading the Pirates to a 5-2 win over the Mets in the finale of a four-game series.

Bartolo Colon (8-6) had an eight-start unbeaten streak snapped after allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk in six innings.

In Philadelphia, B.J. Upton drove in two runs as the Braves defeated the Phillies, 3-2, to complete a four-game sweep.

Gerald Laird knocked in a run with a fourth-inning double and Tommy La Stella scored twice for the Braves. Starter Aaron Harang (7-6) earned the win after surrendering two runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts.

It was the first time the Braves took a four-game sweep over the Phillies in Philadelphia since 1964 at Connie Mack Stadium.
