The Vancouver Canucks defenceman Alex Edler will be out three-to-six weeks following the MCL sprain he suffered last Wednesday, team head coach Travis Green said on Sunday.

Edler, 32, exited last Wednesday's win over the Vegas Golden Knights in the first period after an awkward tie up with Max Pacioretty and did not return. The defender had missed the team's last two games since the injury.

In 10 games this season, Edler has five assists and leads the Canucks with an average of 22:20 of playing time per game.

Green also said on Sunday that that goalie Anders Nilsson, who has been placed on injured reserve, has a fractured finger; while fellow defenceman Christopher Tanev is day-to-day following the hip bone bruise he suffered against Vegas
