Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin said Thursday he "fully expects" Tristian Thompson to attend training camp on Friday, despite the forward's refusal to sign his qualifying offer.

Thompson has until 11:59pm on Thursday to accept the Cavs' one-year qualifying offer of $6.9 million that would enable him to become an unrestricted free agent next summer. If he lets his qualifying offer expire, he'd remain a restricted free agent.

Thompson has been attempting to negotiate a long-term deal throughout the offseason.

According to ESPN.com, the Cavaliers did not accept Thompson's most recent offer of a three-year maximum contract that was tabled to the team last week.

The Cavaliers are reportedly offering Thompson five years, $80 million, while Thompson is asking for a five-year max contract but will settle for a three-year max contract.

The 24-year-old Toronto native averaged 8.5 points and eight rebounds per game last season.
