Columbus Blue Jackets forward Anthony Duclair saw just one shift and 24 seconds of total ice time in his team's 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.

Duclair, who is averaging 12:38 of ice time this season, was benched after his failure to clear to the puck at the blueline led to the Jets’ first goal of the game at the 4:34 mark of the first period.

Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets team website noted that dating back to Tuesday's loss against the Buffalo Sabres, Duclair had been on the ice for a goal against in two straight shifts. He did not see another shift in the third period Tuesday's loss following Conor Sheary's 5-4 goal two minutes into the final frame.

"The meetings we had today about some of the things we needed to do, if you're not ready to play you're not going to play," head coach John Tortorella said of his decision after the game.

Duclair is minus-3 with no points over his past three games.

The Blue Jackets lines were thrown into disarray during warmups ahead of Thursday's game, when leading goal-scorer Cam Atkinson took a puck to the face and was ruled out of the contest. Mark Letestu dressed as a late addition to the lineup and saw 9:54 of ice time in his first game of the season.

Duclair, 23, joined the Blue Jackets as a free agent in July on a one-year, $650,000 contract. He has 10 goals and 15 points with a minus-5 rating in 43 games this season.
