Manchester United legend David Beckham won't be driving in his native England any time soon.

A court handed down a sixth-month ban from driving to the former Three Lions captain after he pleaded guilty to using a cell phone while driving in London last November.

The offence for the 43-year-old Beckham adds six demerit points to his license on top of six he had already received for speeding violations. He also received a £750 fine.

The lawyer for Beckham, who ended his playing career in 2013 after 22 seasons with the Red Devils, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, said that his client didn't even recall the incident in question, but didn't dispute it.

"There is no excuse for what took place, but his view is as he cannot remember," Gerrard Tyrell said.

A native of London, Beckham's MLS expansion side, Inter Miami, is set to take the pitch next year for its inaugural season.
