Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has informed Hockey Canada he will be not be taking part in the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports.

Price, 30, has been limited to 46 games this season due to injuries, including a concussion which forced him to miss a month of action.

He has a 16-24-6 record this season with a career-worst .902 save percentage and a 3.07 goals-against average.

Price has never represented Canada at the worlds, but owns an Olympic gold medal for Sochi 2014 and another gold medal from the 2017 World Cup of Hockey. He also won gold playing for Canada at the 2007 World Junior Championship.

Price's Montreal teammate Brendan Gallagher said Thursday he also will not be attending the worlds. Gallagher has a career-high 30 goals and 49 points in 77 games this season.

The 25-year-old won gold with Canada at the worlds in 2016, scoring two goals and posting five points in 10 games.

Canadiens centre Jonathan Drouin said Thursday he's been told he's in the mix for the team's roster but hasn't been formally invited. Drouin said he will play for Canada if he gets the call.

Drouin has 12 goals and 42 points this season, his first with the Canadiens. He has never before played at the worlds and last represented Canada at the 2014 world juniors, where Canada failed to medal.

The tournament will run from May 4-20 in Denmark. Connor McDavid is expected to be among the players named to Canada's roster.
