The Chicago Blackhawks signed senior vice president and general manager Stan Bowman to a three-year contract extension Tuesday, which will keep him tied to the team through the 2020-21 season.

Bowman has been vice president/GM the past six years and has been with the team the past 15 years. He became the youngest GM in NHL history to guide a team to a Stanley Cup in 2010 and has won three Cups in total with the team.

“I am proud of how much Stan and his staff have accomplished and have great confidence in his leadership as our organization continues to strive for consistent excellence,” president & CEO John McDonough said in a team release. “Under Stan’s guidance, our Hockey Operations Department is strong across all levels, including scouting, player evaluation and development, and salary cap management. He has created a sound structure that Blackhawks fans can be excited about for many years to come.”
