Chicago Blackhawks forward Joakim Nordstrom has been suspended two games by the NHL Department of Player Safety for boarding Arizona Coyotes defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

The incident happened Thursday night during Chicago's 2-1 victory over Arizona. Ekman-Larsson was trying to get control of the puck in the corner when Nordstrom pushed him from behind. He received a boarding minor on the play.

Ekman-Larsson is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and is hopeful to play Saturday against the New Jersey Devils.

The 23-year-old Nordstrom has two assists over 31 games this season with the Blackhawks.
