PORTLAND, Maine - Chase Balisy scored the shootout winner and Connor Hellebuyck made 41 saves as the St. John's IceCaps edged the host Portland Pirates 3-2 on Wednesday in American Hockey League action.

John Albert and Patrice Cormier scored in regulation time for the IceCaps (26-23-8), who are 4-0-1 in their past five outings.

Jordon Southorn and Philip Samuelsson supplied the offence for the Pirates (28-22-4).

Portland's Louis Domingue stopped 24-of-26 shots in a losing cause.

St. John's went 0 for 3 on the power play while the Pirates converted twice on seven chances with the man advantage.
