(SportsNetwork.com) - Tim Hudson and the San Francisco Giants will try to get back on track when they resume a three-game series versus the rival San Diego Padres Tuesday at AT&T Park.

The NL West-leading Giants need Hudson back to his dominant form, as the veteran right-hander lost his previous start last Wednesday in a 7-6 setback at the Chicago White Sox. Hudson was tagged for all seven runs and 12 hits in just 4 2/3 innings. He gave up two home runs.

"It was frustrating no doubt," said Hudson. "They (Giants) scored six runs on a day I pitched and we should win those games."

Hudson fell to 7-3 with a 2.39 ERA and will put his unblemished home record on the line. In seven starts at AT&T Park this season, Hudson is 5-0 with a 2.16 earned run average. He has enjoyed success in his career against San Diego, going 7-2 with a 2.71 ERA in 15 games (14 starts).

Matt Cain didn't have success against the Padres in Monday's 6-0 loss and he allowed all six runs and seven hits in 7 1/3 innings. Cain struck out seven and issued just a walk in falling to 1-6 on the season.

"I've been throwing the ball good," Cain said, "but I haven't made the pitch that I've needed to to shut down an inning."

Gregor Blanco and Hunter Pence both doubled for the Giants, who still have a four-game lead over Los Angeles in the division standings and lost for the 10th time in the last 13 games.

The Giants opened a 10-game homestand on a rough note and will also welcome Cincinnati and St. Louis to the bay area.

San Diego picked up its fourth win in six tries last night and pulled out a victory in the MLB debut of pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne, who twirled seven scoreless innings and scattered four hits with a strikeout and no walks. He was making the start after Andrew Cashner was scratched with a sore shoulder.

"He just mixed it up the whole game. He happened to be on and we've never seen him, so you've got to give him credit, he pitched pretty good," Pence said.

Tommy Medica drove in two runs, while Everth Cabrera and Seth Smith ended with two hits and an RBI for the Padres. The Padres are 25-4 when scoring four or more runs and have held the opposition without a home run in the last six games.

Jesse Hahn hopes to keep the Giants in the yard when he takes the mound for San Diego Tuesday. Hahn is 2-1 with a 2.16 ERA and has won back-to-back starts since losing his MLB debut June 3 versus Pittsburgh. Hahn has defeated the New York Mets and Seattle Mariners, and is coming off a 4-1 triumph last Thursday versus the visiting M's.

Hahn limited Seattle to an unearned run and five hits in seven innings. The right-hander will face his first NL West opponent tonight.

San Diego is 4-3 against San Francisco this season.
