Toronto Maple Leafs

Forward Nick Ritchie has cleared waivers and will be assigned to the American Hockey League. 

Ritchie, 26, has played 30 games with the Leafs this season, registering one goal and seven assists. He signed a two-year contract with a $2.5 million AAV with the club in the offseason.

Ritchie was originally selected 10th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2014 NHL Draft. In 380 career NHL games with the Ducks, Leafs, and Boston Bruins, Ritchie has 60 goals and 85 assists. 

Forwards Mitch Marner and Pierre Engvall were placed in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Friday.

Marner, 24, has six goals and 15 assists in 26 games this season. Engvall, 25, has four goals and six helpers in 32 games. 

The team also assigned forwards Joey Anderson and Brett Seney to the taxi squad. 


Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens have added forward Alex Belzile and defenceman Kale Clague to the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list. 

They join forwards Brandon Baddock, Paul Byron, Laurent Dauphin, Jake Evans, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Cameron Hillis, Mike Hoffman, Artturi Lehkonen, Michael Pezzetta, Tyler Toffoli and Jesse Ylonen, along with defencemen Louie Belpedio, Ben Chiarot, Joel Edmundson, Gianni Fairbrother, Jeff Petry, Alexander Romanov, David Savard and Chris Wideman, and goaltenders Jake Allen, Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau.

Assistant coach Trevor Letowski and goaltending coach Eric Raymond are also currently in protocol.


Minnesota Wild 

Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov will not play Saturday against the Washington Capitals after leaving Thursday's game against the Boston Bruins after taking a hit from Trent Frederic in the second period. Head coach Dean Evason did not have a timetable for his return on Friday. 

Kaprizov was injured after losing his balance just as Frederic delivered a hit that knocked him into the sideboards. He fell to the ice and was slow to get to his feet. Soon after, he made his way down the tunnel.


Washington Capitals 

The Capitals announced Friday that forwards T.J. Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom have been placed on injured reserve. 


Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators announced a pair of moves.

Forward Clark Bishop has been re-assigned to the taxi squad, while forward Logan Shaw was re-assigned to the team's AHL affiliate in Belleville.

Bishop, 25, has played in one game for the Senators this season. Shaw, 29, has one goal and two assists in 17 games in 2021-2022.

Ahead of Friday's practice, the Senators removed four players from COVID-19 protocol including defencemen Thomas Chabot and Dillon Heatherington as well as forwards Zach Sanford and Zach Sanford.
