CLEVELAND - Indians left fielder Michael Brantley left the game against the Los Angeles Angels in the fifth inning for precautionary reasons after receiving a blow to the head and neck area while trying to break up a double play.

Brantley was injured sliding into second base on a grounder hit by Jason Kipnis in the third inning. Brantley remained in the game for an inning, but was replaced by Mike Aviles before the top of the fifth.

Brantley was chosen as the AL Player of the Week on Monday after batting .538 (14 for 26). He extended his hitting streak to eight games with an RBI single in the third Monday.

Brantley is batting .323 with 11 homers and 46 RBIs in 69 games. He's also tied for second in the majors with eight outfield assists.
