Philadelphia Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk has been fined $5,000 - the maximum allowable amount under the CBA - by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for a high stick on Los Angeles Kings defenceman Alec Martinez.

The incident occurred during Thursday night's 3-2 shootout victory for the Kings that ended the Flyers' eight-game winning streak. No penalty was assessed on the play.

Van Riemsdyk, 29, was one of the Flyers' shooters during the shootout and failed to beat Kings netminder Jonathan Quick.

In 38 games this season, van Riemsdyk has 13 goals and 12 assists.
