While Liverpool waits for the fighter that will take on hometown hero Darren Till in the main event, the co-main event of the May 27 event has been set.  Neil Magny will face Gunnar Nelson in a welterweight fight at Echo Arena.

Magny earned the 20th win of his professional MMA career in his last bout when he earned a unanimous decision victory over Carlos Condit at UFC 219 last December.  The victory allowed Magny to rebound from his last outing which saw him fall to Rafael dos Anjos in a first-round submission at UFC 215 in Edmonton.

The 30-year-old has won two of his last four bouts, including a unanimous decision victory over Johny Hendricks at UFC 207.

Nelson lost in his last outing, a first-round KO loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio in the main event of Fight Night Glasgow.

Prior to that set back, he was on a two-fight winning streak with victories over Alan Jouban and Albert Tumenov.

This will be the UFC’s first trip to Liverpool.

Canadian Elias Theodorou is among the fighters already announced for the card as he will return against to the Octagon against Trevor Smith.
