TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled centre Trevor Smith from the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies.

Smith has two goals, three assists and 12 penalty minutes in eight games with the Marlies this season while serving as captain.

The six-foot-one, 195-pound Ottawa native has seven goals, eight assists and eight penalty minutes in 52 career NHL games with the New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning and Maple Leafs.

Smith will be available when the Maple Leafs visit the Ottawa Senators on Sunday night.

Centre Daniel Winnik - who missed Saturday night's game against the New York Rangers - did not make the trip to Ottawa.

He has been out of the line-up since falling awkwardly in Thursday night's loss to the Colorado Avalanche after taking a hit from Jan Hejda.
