(SportsNetwork.com) - The only time Shelby Miller faced the Rockies in his career he retired 27 straight batters. His performance would have been a perfect game, if not for a leadoff single by Eric Young Jr. to start the May 10, 2013 contest at Busch Stadium.

Still, Miller's career-high 13-strikeout effort was a memorable one. He'll face Colorado again tonight, this time in the middle installment of a three- game series. Last year's performance versus the Rockies marked Miller's first career shutout.

The righty comes into tonight's matchup with just one victory in his last six starts (1-5). Miller's lone triumph in that stretch came June 7 at Toronto in a three-hit shutout in which he threw 105 pitches. Miller labored through a 101-pitch performance over 6 2/3 innings in his following start, a no-decision against Washington June 14. He then pitched 6 2/3 frames of a 4-1 loss to the Phillies on Thursday.

Miller is 5-1 with a 2.55 ERA against NL West teams.

Jorge De La Rosa, who is 0-3 over his last four starts, counters for the Rockies. The lefty, who sports a 38-14 mark at Coors Field, is 5-3 with a 4.65 ERA in 14 games (8 starts) when facing the Cardinals.

On Monday, Matt Adams went 3-for-5 with a pair of homers and a career-high six RBI, as the Cardinals clobbered the Rockies, 8-0.

Lance Lynn (8-5) gave up three hits and fanned seven over eight innings. The right-hander has not yielded more than two runs in each of his last four starts.

Adams singled in two runs in the third, hit a solo homer in the fifth and crushed a three-run blast in the seventh. He's the first Cardinals player with six RBI in a game since David Freese had six on June 7, 2012 at Houston.

"He can drive the ball not just for singles the other way, he can drive the ball out of the park the other way," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said of Adams.

Matt Holliday and Jhonny Peralta each drove in a run, as St. Louis won its third in a row following a three-game skid.

Lynn retired 16 batters in a row until Charlie Blackmon singled with two outs in the sixth. Corey Dickerson followed with another hit, but Troy Tulowitzki flied out to right to end the inning.

By that time the Cardinals built a 5-0 lead on Jhoulys Chacin (1-6), who gave up four hits and five runs in six frames in Colorado's seventh straight loss.

The Cardinals have won nine of the last 13 meetings with Colorado.
