The Edmonton Oilers announced that they have placed forwards Jujhar Khaira and Jesse Puljujarvi on the injured reserve list and activated defenceman Andrej Sekera

The team also recalled forward Josh Currie from the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.

According to TSN's Ryan Rishaug, Puljujarvi is nursing a lower-body injury that is not believed to be serious. This gives the club time to sort out options for the 20-year-old, who missed Saturday's game. He currently occupies the No. 45 spot on TSN's Trade Bait Board

Sekera has yet to suit up for the Oilers this season since tearing his Achilles tendon during the off-season. He had two assists in five games during his AHL stint.

He signed with the Oilers on July 1, 2015 to a six-year, $33 million contract. In 197 games with the team, he has 73 points (14 goals, 59 assists).

Puljujarvi has four goals and five assists in 46 games so far this season, while Khaira has three goals and 13 helpers spread across 53 games. Currie has not yet appeared in an NHL game this season but does have 37 points in 49 AHL games.

Edmonton will be back in action on Tuesday against the Arizona Coyotes.
