The Edmonton Oilers will be without defenceman Darnell Nurse "long-term" with a lower-body injury according to head coach Todd McLellan.

McLellan made the announcement ahead of the Oilers game against the Anaheim Ducks, adding they will know more about the injury in the next day or two.

Nurse suffered the injury Thursday in Winnipeg against the Jets.

Nurse was blossoming for the Oilers this season, his second full season in the NHL. The 21-year-old has three goals and five points in 25 games for Edmonton.
