Oklahoma started the 2021 season with Lincoln Riley, Spencer Rattler and Caleb Williams.

The Sooners might begin 2022 with none of them.

On Monday, Williams announced that he was entering the transfer portal, following the footsteps of Rattler who left for South Carolina last month.

Freshman Williams, 20, took over as the Sooners' starting quarterback from Rattler midway through the season. He appeared in 11 games for OU, throwing for 1,916 yards on 137-for-212 passing with 21 touchdowns and four interceptions. He added six more majors on the ground.

A native of Washington, DC, Williams says that returning to the Sooners "will definitely be an option."

Following Riley's departure for USC in November, the Sooners named Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables head coach last month.
