(VANCOUVER) After much anticipation, the BC Lions have released their new jerseys for the upcoming season.

The traditional orange home jersey has black shoulder panels with single-colored numbers, along with black pants that include orange accents. The home helmet is also getting an update and will be glossy black with a smoke-chrome face mask. The team has also removed “BC” from the helmet, replacing it with a five-stripped loin’s head design.

“The five stripes along with ‘Lions’ head represents six historic decades of professional football in BC as well as our six Grey Cup wins,” said the club’s senior leader of creative services, Rich Koh, who designed the jersey and helmet logo. “Stripes are easy to add and I anticipate we’ll be adding many more in years to come.”

The away jersey also received and update. It’s white with orange shoulder panels. The pants are orange and the players will wear orange helmets with white decaling and pearl-white face masks.

The new jerseys will make their debut on June 25th, during a pre-season game against the Calgary Stampeders.
