The Detroit Red Wings will open the month of December without the services of forward Justin Abdelkader.

According to TSN’s Aaron Ward, Abdelkader is expected to miss two weeks with a partially separated shoulder suffered Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks.

The 27-year-old was injured late in the second period on Saturday after taking a hit from Canucks defenceman Luca Sbisa. He did not return for the third period.

In 24 games with the Red Wings this season, Abdelkader has scored seven goals and added eight assists.
