Travis Benjamin will head into the season with a little extra security.

ESPN's Field Yates reports the Los Angeles Chargers have signed the wide receiver to a one-year extension taking him through the 2020 season.

The deal comes with a $5.5 million signing bonus, but takes down his 2019 base salary from $5.25 million to $1 million and gives the team an additional $2.75 million in cap space.

A native of Belle Glade, FL, Benjamin is heading into his eighth NFL season and fourth with the Chargers.

In 12 games last season, Benjamin posted 186 receiving yards on 12 catches and a touchdown.

The Miami product spent the first four seasons of his career with the Cleveland Browns.
