Kieran Tierney will not be one of new Everton manager Marco Silva's first summer signings.

The BBC's Alasdair Lamont reports the Toffees have ended their interested in Celtic's promising Scottish centre-back.

It is believed that Celtic rejected a bid of £25 million for the 21-year-old defender who's been capped nine times by Scotland.

A product of the Hoops' academy, Tierney has made 81 appearances for Celtic's first team over four seasons.

Tierney has also been attached to Atletico Madrid and Manchester United in recent months.

The Scottish champions for the seventh straight season, Celtic kicks off their Champions League qualifying campaign on Tuesday with the first leg of their tie with Armenian side Alashkert in Yerevan.

Everton will now look elsewhere for a long-term successor to captain Leighton Baines in the centre of defence. Baines will turn 35 later this season.

Everton has yet to make a signing this offseason, but have been attached to the likes of Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg, Bayer Leverkusen left-back Wendell and former Sporting winger Gelson Martins.

The Toffees open up their Premier League campaign on August 11 with a visit to Wolves.
