With the likelihood of the Toronto Raptors keeping Dwane Casey as their head coach for next season, it appears general manager Masai Ujiri is looking to add to the coaching staff.
ESPN's Marc Stein reported Thursday morning that the Raptors have interest in hiring former New Orleans Pelicans coach Monty Williams.
The Pelicans fired Williams earlier this week after being with the organization for five seasons, making the playoffs twice over his tenure in New Orleans.
The 58-year-old Casey was rumored to be on the hot seat this off-season after the Raptors were swept in the first round by the Washington Wizards, but a report from NBC New York's Mitch Lawrence this week said he would be back next season.
This was Casey's fourth year in Toronto and second straight where he helped set a new franchise record for wins with 49. Toronto has won the Atlantic Division the past two seasons as well.
Despite the regular season success, the Raptors have failed to advance to the second round of the playoffs under Casey with their team defence being a problem area.
