The Houston Texans are expected to put an end to Demaryius Thomas' short tenure with the team on Tuesday, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.

According to Palmer, the Texans will release Thomas, who sustained a torn Achilles in Week 16 in his seventh game with the team.

Thomas was traded to the Texans from the Denver Broncos in October for a fourth-round and a seventh-round draft pick. He posted 23 receptions for 275 yards and two touchdowns with the Texans, bringing his season total to 59 receptions for 677 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games with the two teams.

The 31-year-old is a four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, and topped 1,300 yards in four straight seasons from 2012-2015.

He was signed through next season at a $14 million salary, none of which was guaranteed.
