There was no shortage of star power in Eli and Peyton Manning’s signature alternate broadcast of Monday Night Football on ESPN2 as this week’s second-quarter guest was none other than Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

James, who played high school varsity football, revealed that he nearly chose to pursue a career in the NFL, stating that he received offers from both the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks during the 2011 NBA lockout.

“Jerry Jones offered me a contract and also Pete Carroll did as well in Seattle during our lockout time," James said. "It definitely got my blood flowing again, got my mind racing again thinking about the game of football and being out there on Sundays. We were able to get a deal done in the NBA and I was back on the court in no time. But I definitely thought about it.”

The two brothers then ended up playing archived game footage of LeBron from his high school days, breaking down his height and weight stats and overall playback in his football heyday.

"If I would have had a better quarterback in high school, I might have continued to play football,” James jokingly said. “But I took way too many hits and that led me to the basketball court."

This certainly got Peyton pondering what could have been a potentially electric duo had the two been given the chance to play together.

"I would have thrown so many touchdowns to LeBron," Peyton said. "Put him out wide, throw the fade, jump ball ... 75 touchdowns."
