Teoscar Hernandez is headed to Buffalo.

The Toronto Blue Jays announced Thursday that the outfielder has been sent to Triple-A. Infielder Richard Urena has been recalled in his place.

After a 22 homer season last year, Hernandez has been struggling mightily in 39 games so far this season. The 26-year-old is hitting .189 with a minuscule .299 slugging percentage. He had one hit in his last four games leading up to the demotion.

Urena has been back and forth between Buffalo and Toronto this season but has handled the bat nicely in his limited time at the big league level.

In 32 at-bats with the Jays, Urena is hitting .313 with an OPS of .740.

Meanwhile, outfielder Socrates Brito has cleared waivers and will be outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo. He was designated for assignment after picking up only three hits in 39 at-bats.

The Jays (17-25) begin a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox (19-22) Thursday night at Guaranteed Rate Field. Marcus Stroman will get the ball for the visitors, while Dylan Covey will counter for the Southsiders.
