(SportsNetwork.com) - Former AL Cy Young winner and MVP Justin Verlander will desperately try to put a stop to a personal three-game losing streak when his Detroit Tigers face the Cleveland Indians in the second matchup of a three- game series at Progressive Field.

Verlander hasn't picked up a win since the end of May, and will square off with the Indians' Trevor Bauer Saturday.

Verlander is 6-7 on the year entering the contest, sporting a 4.98 earned run average. He's recorded 69 strikeouts but has had visible control problems, as evidenced by his 41 walks on the year.

In his last three outings, Verlander has given up 19 runs and was shelled for 12 hits and seven runs in six innings of work against Kansas City on Monday.

"There is nothing to do but stay confident, move forward and turn the page," Verlander said following his latest start.

In 37 career starts against Cleveland, Verlander owns an 18-15 record with 258 total strikeouts and a 4.37 ERA in 235 innings pitched.

Bauer picked up his second win of the season in his last outing against the Angels Monday. He enters the fray with a 2-3 record on the season and a 4.20 ERA in seven total starts. Bauer, a 23-year-old youngster out of California, has held opponents to a .268 batting average against in those appearances.

Cleveland's 4-3 win over Los Angeles Monday gave Bauer his first win since May 20. The righty went 6 2/3 innings against the Angels and surrendered eight hits with three earned runs and six strikeouts.

Bauer has been sturdy this season, sporting a 2-1 record with an impressive 2.92 ERA with 27 strikeouts in four starts. Against Detroit, Bauer is 1-0 in his lone career start.

The Tigers and Indians met for game one of the series Friday night, which resulted in Detroit's 6-4 victory in Cleveland. Rick Porcello picked up his ninth win of the season for the Tigers after lasting six innings on the mound.

The Indians sprayed six hits off Porcello, but couldn't manage a single run until Asdrubal Cabrera homered in the eighth, by which time Porcello was out of the game. The score was 5-3 in favor of Detroit following the Cleveland homer.

"I had a good fastball," Porcello said. "My changeup was a big pitch. The way the guys played defense was fantastic too."

Victor Martinez clubbed his 18th home run of the season off Corey Kluber in the fourth inning. Kluber picked up the loss for Cleveland after pitching seven innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs.

The win for the Tigers marks the third time in June the team has won back-to- back games. They haven't won three in a row since a sweep of the Red Sox from May 16-18.
