WINNIPEG — Kristian Vesalainen scored twice and Eric Comrie made 38 saves as the Manitoba Moose topped the Grand Rapids Griffins 6-2 in American Hockey League action Saturday.

Skyler McKenzie, Jansen Harkins and Vesalainen scored in the first period as the Moose (7-6-0) opened up an early lead and never looked back.

Alexis D'Aoust scored in the second period, while Mason Appleton and Vesalainen solved Harri Sateri in the third. Sateri stopped 25-of-31 shots in the loss.

Chris Terry and Turner Elson got the Griffins (6-6-1) on the board in the final frame.

Both teams were scoreless in four power-play opportunities.
