It looks like Nike has some explaining to do.

Vanessa Bryant took to social media to react to someone holding a pair of shoes she helped design in honor of her daughter, Gianna Bryant.

The shoes appear to be the Kobe 6 Protro ‘Mamba Forever.’

“This is a shoe I worked on in honour of my daughter Gianna. It was going to be an exclusive colorway on her daddy’s shoes,” said Bryant in an Instagram post.

After explaining the inspiration behind the shoe, breaking down the colourway and design features, Bryant explicitly stated the shoes were not approved for sale.

Vanessa Bryant and the Kobe Bryant estate chose to not renew its partnership with Nike in April. However two shoes were rumoured to release -- the Undefeated x Kobe 6 Protro ‘Hall of Fame’ and the Kobe 6 Protro ‘POP.’

“I wanted it to be sold to honor my daughter with ALL of the proceeds benefiting our @mambamambacitasports foundation but I did not re-sign the Nike contract and decided not to to sell these shoes. (The MAMBACITA shoes were not approved to be made in the first place).”

Bryant also said that Nike hasn’t sent her any pairs to her and her daughters, which is odd because it looks like some people have them.

Milwaukee Bucks Khris Middleton wore a pair in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat.

As of press time, Nike hasn’t released a statement.
