Another week passed means another day of new music for us here at The Shift to indulge in. There was no shortage of star power loaded in this week’s latest releases, from Rosalía and The Weeknd to a whole new(ish) album from Taylor Swift.  We sure are excited to relax, hit play and enjoy these hot new tracks all weekend!

Rosalía ft. The Weeknd - “LA FAMA”

Rosalía and The Weeknd have linked up once again after the former joined Abel in the remix to his mega-hit “Blinding Lights” last year.  In this track, Rosalía displays a terrific blend of bachata with emotionally-charged electronic pop in unison with The Weeknd, who flexes his Spanish skills in his verse.  A story of love and lust, “La Fama” is the lead single of Rosalía’s upcoming album, Motomami. -Mike Jagassar

Mick Jenkins - “Gucci Tried to Tell Me”

In the vein of other insightful Chicago lyricists such as Saba or Chance the Rapper, Mick Jenkins has always blended his songwriting craft with deep-dives into the soul. On this track, Jenkins takes a step back from the heavier subject matter to shoot the breeze about catching feelings and the simple intimacy of spending time together. This is a love song for Sunday mornings. -Kevin Yeung

Juice WRLD - “Already Dead”

First previewed on his Instagram in 2018, the late and great Juice WRLD’s newest posthumous track “Already Dead” explores his heartbreak and substance abuse, noting the problems that occur when mixing the two.  However, prior to the track dropping, Juice’s team announced that they will celebrate the late artist’s birthday by releasing his second posthumous album, Fighting Demons, on December 10. -M.J.

Taylor Swift - “Red (Taylor’s Version)”

In her ongoing quest to take ownership of her old music, T-Swift has re-released her 2012 Grammy-nominated album “Red” with almost twice the amount of songs from the original and a whole new lineup of features, including Phoebe Bridgers, Ed Sheeran and Chris Stapleton. Taylor’s Version also includes nine previously unreleased tracks that didn't make the final cut in 2012. -M.J.

Beyoncé - “Be Alive”

The inspirational anthem we needed this week came out today in the form of Queen B’s “Be Alive”, an original song for the soundtrack of the upcoming biopic King Richard.  The single comes one week before the highly-anticipated film about Serena and Venus Williams’ father, Richard Williams, hits theatres and was previewed earlier in the trailer for the film. -M.J.

Summer Walker - “4th Baby Mama”

The intersection of romance and ratchetry. Summer Walker was in her bag for this one. First verse, she’s coming for your mother, who should’ve raised you better than to lie and cheat! -K.Y.
