“That might be meaningful to some of you. You know who you are.”

We all watched and listened as Al Michaels explained to us what we already knew.

One bettor’s good fortune meant disaster for another in the final moments of Thursday Night Football.

The Cleveland Browns were seconds away from clinching a 23-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Denzel Ward’s fumble recovery touchdown with no time left on the clock pushed the final score to 29-17, creating one of the most memorable bad beats of all-time for anybody who lost a bet on that final play.

There were too many of us to count.

Here’s the Morning Coffee for Friday September 23rd, 2022.

Thursday Night Football Ends With An All-Time Bad Beat

There was plenty that had already been decided by the final seconds of regulation last night.

There were also plenty of bets that were mere moments away from cashing that didn’t.

If you bet the Steelers on alternate spreads at +6.5 or more, that’s a terrible beat.

The total opened at 40.5 at FanDuel and closed at 38.5.

The final touchdown pushed the total from 40 to 46.

If you bet the under or an alternate under at anywhere from 40.5 to 45.5, that’s a terrible beat.

How about the wide receiver that fumbled the ball on the final play?

Chase Claypool had exactly 41 receiving yards entering the final play of the game.

He was credited with minus-six receiving yards on the fumble.

If you bet Claypool over receiving yards at anywhere from 35.5 to 40.5, that’s one of the worst prop bet beats you will ever see in your life.

Of course, if you were on the other side of any of the swings that I just highlighted, Ward’s touchdown was the miracle final play that you needed.

That wasn’t the case for anybody who bet the Pat McAfee Show Super Boost at FanDuel.

McAfee had Nick Chubb anytime touchdown, Najee Harris anytime touchdown and the Steelers +7.5.

Pittsburgh went from a six-point loss to a 12-point loss on that final play.

Fortunately for anybody who bet the boost, FanDuel decided to refund all customers who bet the boost.

As somebody who played a two-leg SGP with the ALT spread Browns +3.5 and the ALT under 45.5, I won’t be getting a refund after the total landed on 46.

I went from kicking off the week with a 2-1 record to kicking it off with a 1-2 record on that final score.

For anybody else that suffered a terrible beat on Thursday Night Football, you’re not alone.

We’ll all move on to NFL Sunday with a full slate of games to look forward to and hopefully some better fortune this weekend.

For as bad as it was, we won’t all remember Thursday Night Football because of the bad beat.

Our very own Luke Bellus turned $20 into over $2,000 with a pair of FanDuel Same Game Parlay bets that cashed late after Pat Freiermuth went for 41 yards on two catches in the fourth quarter to cash the 40+ receiving yards prop.

Judge’s Pursuit Of No. 61 Continues

Aaron Judge continued to fill up the highlight reel with another remarkable play from the field on Thursday night.

Unfortunately for anybody who was banking on him to hit a home run, it didn’t happen.

Judge went 0-for-2 with three walks in a 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox in 10 innings last night.

While he continues to be a difference maker for the AL East-leading Yankees, everybody is still waiting on No. 61.

New York is back in action tonight as a -225 money line favourite against the rival Red Sox.

Judge is +220 to hit a home run and +1900 to hit two home runs tonight versus Boston.

The Yankees’ superstar slugger is still on pace for 65 home runs this season.

All eyes will be on him again tonight as he goes for the record once again.
