Tennessee Titans safety Kevin Byard took issue with Deion Sanders calling Tyrann Mathieu the best safety in the NFL, calling Sanders out on social media Tuesday.

Responding to an NFL Network tweet that quoted Sanders saying Mathieu is the best safety in the game, Byard asked how the retired defensive back and current NFL Network analyst could make that statement without acknowledging the First Team All Pro safeties. Byard was named an All Pro alongside Harrison Smith of the Minnesota Vikings and Earl Thomas of the Seattle Seahawks at the position last year.

Sanders responded to Byard, calling him a fan and saying he knows who current and former players feel is the best safety.

Byard responded, reminding Sanders that he is a current player and Pro Bowler, and reassuring fans he'll use the slight as motivation.

Byard was named an All Pro in his second season with the Titans after starting all 16 games and finishing with 62 tackles, 16 pass defences, and a league-leading eight interceptions.
