Beck scores twice, Iowa downs Manitoba

DES MOINES, Iowa — Colton Beck struck twice in the second period and Andrew Hammond made 26 saves as the Iowa Wild downed the Manitoba Moose 8-1 on Sunday in American Hockey League action.
Gerry Fitzgerald and Ryan Murphy put the Wild ahead 2-0 before Kristian Reichel scored late in the first for the Moose to make it a one-goal game after a period of action.
Beck made it 3-1 with his first before Kyle Rau added another only 3:22 later. Beck's second of the period gave Iowa (2-0-0) a 5-1 edge and chased Eric Comrie out of the Moose (0-2-0) net.
Mike Liambas, Gerald Mayhew and Mason Shaw rounded out the offence in the third.
Comrie and Ken Appleby combined to make 34 saves in a losing cause.
Iowa went 3 for 7 on the power play while Manitoba failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.
