Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics placed hurler Drew Pomeranz on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, one day after he fractured his non-pitching right hand.
The A's have not revealed when the injury occurred. Pomeranz started Monday's game against the Texas Rangers but lasted just 3 2/3 innings, surrendering eight runs -- seven earned -- and eight hits in his worst outing of the season.
Pomeranz had been pitching well up to that point, entering Monday's matchup with a 4-2 record and a 1.88 ERA in seven starts since joining Oakland's rotation in early May.
Reliever Evan Scribner was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to replace Pomeranz on the active roster.
Scribner has spent parts of each of the last three seasons with the Athletics, posting a 2-0 record with a 3.27 ERA over 50 appearances during that time frame.
