The Carolina Hurricanes and second overall draft pick Andrei Svechnikov agreed to terms on an entry-level contract Saturday.

While Svechnikov signed the deal in front of Hurricanes fans after their development camp, the contract won't be registered with the NHL until Sunday when the league year begins.

The Hurricanes took Svechnikov second overall after the 18-year-old Russian finished with 40 goals and 32 assists in 44 games with the OHL's Barrie Colts.
