The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to a minor league deal with catcher Matt Wieters, the team announced. 

The deal includes a non-roster invite to the team's major league spring training.  

Wieters, a veteran of 10 big league seasons, spent last year with the Washington Nationals. In 76 games, he had eight home runs and 30 RBI to go along with an OPS of .704. 

Prior to his time in Washington, Wieters spent eight seasons in Baltimore where he was a four-time All-Star. 

As Benjamin Hochman of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch notes, if Wieters makes the roster, he will become the 12th former All-Star on the Cardinals. He would join Yadier MolinaMatt Carpenter, Paul Goldschmidt, Dexter Fowler, Marcell Ozuna, Adam Wainwright, Carlos Martinez, Michael Wacha, Miles Mikolas, Brett Cecil and Andrew Miller

The 32-year-old was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2007 Draft by the Orioles. He made his big league debut in May of 2009.
